Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) – Assist Tri-CAP as a volunteer who provides free tax preparation and e-filing services to low-moderate income people who need assistance in completing their tax returns. Volunteers receive free IRS Certified training to prepare basic tax returns in our local communities, which is also a great asset on a resume. For CPA’s the volunteer time also provides continuing professional education credits from the IRS. The Tri-CAP VITA sites are located in St. Cloud, Elk River, and Cold Spring. Environmental Education – The Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge (SNWR) provides on-site education for students from schools, scouting groups or other organized youth groups. Assist an Enviro Ed Leader with student questions and logistics of a student visit to the Refuge. Groups visit year round and now utilize the new learning center building as well as the outdoors. Dust/Vacuum – Routine housekeeping never felt so good! Assist someone who is unable to do these basic homemaking tasks for themselves. Great River Faith in Action will match a willing volunteer with a client to assist 1-2 times a month, for 1-2 hours each time.
