Wrestlers Win Over Thunder, Improve To 1 1 In Grc

The Becker Bulldog boys wrestling team got pins from Lukas Paulson, Jacob Berning and Jaylin Hildebrandt to pull out a big win over Zimmerman Thursday night at home.
 
“We had a good conference win tonight at home,” said Head Coach Matt Aho. “ I am excited to see our guys wrestling tough.  They are each approaching the match with a winning attitude.” 
 
With the win, Becker is now 1-1 in the conference with a victory over Zimmerman and a loss to Mora. 
 
Bulldogs 45, Thunder 33
 
At 106-lbs., Becker’s Lukas Paulson pinned Will Pouliot of Zimmerman at 2:42. Jacob Berning did the same to Nick Merta at 2:25 of their 113-lb. match
At 120-lbs., the Thunder’s Even Garr won a decision over Becker’s Brenton Arbuckle, 2-1. Bulldogs Logan Jurek (132-lbs.), Kevin Andres (136-lbs.) and Blake Paulson (138-lbs.) all won their matches by forfeit to give Becker a big lead.
 
Zimmerman’s Trent Miles pinned Becker’s John Schwartz at 1:02 of their 145-lb. match and that was followed by an 11-7 decision win for Becker’s Adam Bauman at 152-lbs. over Randy Bray.
 
At 160-lbs.,  Chase Rosby of Zimmerman won by fall over Becker’s Zach Fisher at 3:22. Becker had no one to wrestle at 170-lbs. so Zimmerman’s Kaleb Kliever took home the victory by forfeit.
 
Hildebrandt easily dispatched Kadin Hakola in 48 seconds in the 182-lb. match while the Thunder’s Justin Robertson did the same (55 seconds) to Becker’s Brady Gruenhagen at 195-lbs.
 
 Zimmerman’s Billy Johann pinned Becker’s Austin Benkowski at 1:01 of their 220-lb. match and Casey Vesledahl closed out the night with a win by forfeit at 285-lbs.
 
Up Next
Today (Saturday), the boys travel to Delano to take on the Tigers and the Rockford Rockets. Thursday, they will hit the road for Foley to compete against the Falcons at 7:30 p.m.
