Thursday, the Becker Bulldog wrestling team eked out a win over Little Falls at home, 37-33. The win came in the final match of the night at heavyweight where Casey Vesledahl beat Billy Winkelman, 8-3 to secure the win. The Bulldogs improved to 11-9 overall and 2-3 in the Granite Ridge Conference.

 

“It was a great night for us,” said Head Coach Matt Aho. “A lot of our guys are turning corners and are making big steps from the beginning of the season.”

 

Logan Jurek, Ryan Rasmussen, Josh Lumley, Caleb Vekved, Cody Ferris, Jaylin Hildebrandt, Trevor Goodrich and Vesledahl all picked up wins in the victory for Becker.

Vekved earned his 75th career win with a major decision at 138-lbs.

Last Friday, the Bulldogs hosted a quadrangular tournament with teams from Watertown-Mayer, Dassel-Cokato and Sauk Rapids-Rice.

 

Becker went 2-1, beating Dassel-Cokato and Sauk Rapids-Rice.

 

Cody Ferris achieved his 100th win in his wrestling career during his team’s match at 160-lbs.

 

“I am proud of Cody, he has really worked hard to achieve this goal,” said Aho. 

 

Josh Lumley, Kevin Andres, Colten Demant, Adam Bauman, Blake Paulson, Caleb vekved, Josiah Borst, Cody Ferris, Jaylin Hildebrandt, Chris Weberg and Casey Vesledahl all had wins in Becker’s win over Dassel-Cokato.
