THE BULLDOG VOLLEYBALL TEAM had its ups-and-downs this season, but the team never got down on themselves and played well under Head Coach Greg Lynch. Unfortunately, they lost their first round playoff matchup to St. Cloud Apollo Thursday and their season came to an end.

Volleyball Team’s Season Ends At Apollo

The #9-seeded Becker Volleyball team’s season came to an end Wednesday night with a loss to #8-seeded St. Cloud Apollo in the first round of the 8AAA section playoffs.
 
The final scores were 20-25, 16-25, 23-25.  
 
Apollo moves on to play #1-seed Willmar. Big Lake was seeded #11 and lost their first round match to Brainerd, 3-0.
 
The Bulldogs ended their season with a conference record of 6-4-0, earning them a third place  finish.  Their overall record for the season was 13-15-0.

• Side Out %: 49.3;
 
• Service Win %: 49.2.
 
Some notable stats for individual players for the season: 
Jessica Gruber —  Serve %: 91.9;  Aces: 22; Hitting %: +0.230; Kills: 273; Blocks: 20.
 
Sydney Bordson —  Assists: 248; Serving %: 89.6.
 
Payton Anderson —  Hitting %: +0.211; Kills: 136; Blocks: 52.
 
Leah Andersen —  Digs: 216; Serve %: 95.5; Aces: 13.
 
The Bulldogs had a win streak of four games in early September and a losing streak of seven from Sept. 19 to Sept. 30. They rebounded to play some very good ball and won six out of 10 of their last matches to enter sections on a roll.
 
The teams they beat this year were, Big Lake, Nevis, West Lutheran, Robbinsdale Cooper, Milaca (2x), Zimmerman (2x), Hinckley-Finlayson, Little Falls, Mora and Cloquet.
 
They lost matches to Rogers, Monticello, Mora, Royalton, Princeton, Albany, Foley, St. Cloud Cathedral, Carlton, Greenway, Rockford, Deer River, Jordan, Canby and St. Cloud Apollo (2x).
 
The Bulldogs will lose seniors Andersen, Hailey Koep and twins Nikki and Miranda O’Brien to graduation.
