Track Teams Compete In “Last Chance” Meet

The Becker Bulldog boys and girls track teams competed in the “last chance” meet in Little Falls Tuesday.

Boys Track
This is a meet that allows all athletes “one more chance” to really improve a time, distance, or height before gearing up for the section 8AA meet next week Wednesday and Saturday.

“This meet is a bit different in that the athletes decide what events they would like to compete in to get a top performance or maybe just try an event,” said Head Coach Paul Schmidt.

Dawson Thom continued to be Becker’s top thrower and he performed well in the shotput and discus with tosses of 43'6.75" and 121' 10".  Mitchel Enerson threw well enough in the discus to earn him a spot on the section team with a toss of 109' 5".  Nick Radunz also threw well, with a disc toss of 115' 6". Ryan Nohner had a shot put chuck of 38' 3".

In field events, Ethan Holm achieved his top vault of the year at 10' 6" and Jacob Drury is getting back into form in the high jump after an early injury with a season best jump of 5' 6".

“It is great to see these two peaking at the right time,” said Schmidt.

Holm also won the triple jump with a leap of 39' 4".

Matt Davalos took a break from the 300M hurdles to win the 200M with a time of 24.81. He was also a part of the winning 4x400M relay team with Austin Hemmelgarn, Kevin Andres and Sam Ricker.

Hemmelgarn won the 100M as well with Sid Boros a close second.

“It was great to see Sid back running again and look forward to having him return for our section meet next week,” said the head coach.

Kevin Andres won the 400M with Boros taking second place.

Jonathan Novak ran his top time in the 1600M, placing third with a 4:55.93 time and Sam Ricker ran in the 800M and finished third with a time of 2:09.66.
