The Big Lake Girls Tennis Team — under the tutleage of Brett Mattson — hopes to take positive strides in 2020 as they grow the culture of the sport and engage the youth.
Big Lake tennis is a co-op with Sprectrum High School (Elk River) and this is Big Lake’s fourth year as a co-op and Mattson’s eighth year at the helm.
Mattson was once a varsity tennis player for four years while he attended Elk River High School.
Thirty two high schoolers and nine middle schoolers comprise this year’s squad. Julie Browen is the JV coach and Tanner Krutzig is the middle school coach.
Captains for this year’s team are senior Sophie Wesolowski and juniors Ella Dotzler and Lilly Stolte.
