Swim/Dive Team Enjoy Hosting First Home Meets In Years

The Becker Bulldog swimming and dive team hosted their first home match in four years Tuesday when Princeton came to town to see the team’s new state-of-the-art facility.

Not surprisingly, the match began with a glitch when the scoreboard failed to function but after the braintrust got together and tweaked a few things, the meet ensued.

“It was great to be at our own pool for the first time in almost four years,” said Head Coach Tina Tamm.  “There was a slight timing system glitch at the beginning of the meet but we fixed it and continued with the meet.”

Because of the glitch, the dive team took center stage first since their scoring is conducted manually by three judges with score paddles.
No results from the divers were made available to the Citizen by press time.

Becker lost the meet to the Tigers, 102-83.

Winners for the event for Becker were Emma Lefebvre in the 200 freestyle, Andrea Molus in the 50 freestyle, Jade Erson, Lefebvre, Macy Erson and Molus in the 200 freestyle relay and Jade Erson in the 100 breaststroke.

“Another great part about the new pool is that there will be all new pool records,” said Tamm.  “Every race that happened on Tuesday night ended with a new pool record.”

Current Becker pool record holders include Lefebvre - 200 free with a time of 2:17.67; Nicole Larrison - 50 free with a time of :27.13; Molus - 100 butterfly with a time of 1:11.67; Molus - 500 free with a time of 5:49.45; 200 free relay - Jade Erson, Lefebvre, Macy Erson, Molus - 1:52.16; 400 free relay - Macy Erson, Larrison, Jade Erson, Molus - 4:09.30.

“The girls swam well and the fans were great,” said Tamm. “It was nice to see so many people there cheering for our girls.  Best part about being at home.”
