The Becker Bulldog boys golf team came in second place Monday with a 326.
Wapicada in Sauk Rapids is where they teed things up for their second-to-last Granite Ridge Conference meet.
Head Coach Dan Olson said his team played tough and experienced the firmest greens to date.
With the second place finish to Cathedral, the Bulldogs now trail the Crusaders by 28 strokes with just nine holes to go in the regular season.
“We will need four score 80 or below scores to be able to compete with them at sections,” said Olson.
Alex Stanz led the way for Becker, shooting a 75 (tied for medalist). Jackson Fluck had a solid 81, Caleb Foster a nice 84 and Michael Sogard not far behind with an 86.
Zach Stanz (87) and Brandon Abrahamson (88) rounded out the team.
Alex Stanz’ round consisted of a 36 on the front nine and a 39 on the back. Albany’s David Schneider was the other medalist, tied with Stanz at 75.
“The kids are playing some good golf for part of their rounds, but need to start playing the full round without making any big mistakes,” said the head coach.
