Monday night, Becker went on the road and came away with a nice overall performance in downing Cambridge-Isanti, 61-51.
Head Coach Dan Baird was impressed with the balance on his team, as seven Bulldogs logged double figure minutes.
“Madi Bass connected on five of 11 from the three point line before suffering an injury,” Baird said. “Madi has had such a nice season for us, playing defense, hitting threes, and just showing leadership.”
Baird also credited Adele Changamire with a nice game as the eighth grader had 13 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Bass finished with 15 points for the Bulldogs.
“Lexi Rose had 26 points in this quality win,” Baird added. “We competed on the boards with a bigger team and committed only 10 turnovers. Those are two good things for us that typically leads to success.”
With the win, Becker remained atop the M8 Conference standings.
“This win makes the Conference title coming down to just us and Monticello,” Baird noted.
Becker was 11-1 in the Mississippi 8 Conference with the win and in first place, with Monticello having two Conference losses.
Princeton
Tuesday night, Becker was again on the road and came away 73-47 victors over the Princeton Tigers.
The Bulldogs had an incredible effort on the defensive end of the court after intermission, holding the Tigers to just 16 second half points.
Becker led throughout the game, but the big moment came in the second half with just 58 seconds left on the clock when senior Lexi Rose buried her only three point shot of the night for her 1,000th career point.
“Lexi scored 22 points in the game for 1,000 points in her career,” Baird said after the game. “Lexi’s defense in the game was amazing, too.”
While Rose was earning her time in the spotlight, Baird noted that his entire team was focused and played a huge role in the milestone.
“The team played great during this special night,” Baird added, while noting Rose’s character in addition to her scoring prowess. “She is an amazing kid and a great basketball player.”
Becker scoring: Adele Changamire 14, Lauren Croal 14, Reckelberg four, Rose 22, Andie Changamire six, Brown 13.
