Rose competes in All Star Series

Becker’s Lexi Rose competed last weekend in the MN All-Star basketball series held at Carlton College in Northfield.

“The banquet was awesome on Friday night, and the All-Star game went well,” Becker girls coach Dan Baird said.  “Lexi represented Becker well, connecting on three 3’s and playing solid basketball.”

The All-Star series honors the top basketball players in the state of Minnesota and the competition is impressive.

“This is quite an honor for Lexi to be asked to play in this game,” Baird added.  “Lexi also made the first cut for Miss Basketball, and she had an amazing career at Becker.”

Rose set the school record of 41 points in a game this season in a game versus Albany, a team that made it to the state championship.

“Lexi will be missed on and off the court for our program,” Baird noted.

The coach also announced this week the results of his team’s awards banquet, including Rose winning team MVP, while Eilidh Mrnak won Most Dedicated.  Avery Johnson was awarded the Best Teammate award.

Mississippi 8 All-Conference honors went to Rose, Adele Changamire and Madi Bass, while Honorable Mention All-Conference was bestowed upon Lauren Croal.

The 60+ Class AAA coaches in MN voted this year and named Rose to the All-State First Team, while Academic All-State honors went to Rose, Alexa Voller, Avery Johnson, Claire Leither and Paige Hennen.

Adele Changamire was named “Newcomer of Year” by Prep Girls Hoops for all four classes.

“This is a prestigious award that went to Chloe Johnson last season,” Baird added.

Team highlights for the season included a 19-9 record, Mississippi 8 Conference Championship and the Team Academic Conference Award for a 3.87 combined GPA.
