The Becker youth track & field athletes took to the field in the AAU district qualifier meet held at Brooklyn Center High School last weekend.
Many great performances were once again established as the athletes prepared themselves for the USATF and AAU Regional meet.
The AAU Regional this year will be this weekend, (July 1 & 2) at Maple Grove High School. There, they will face competition from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota. Top five finishers will qualify for Nationals.
Alyssa Kinney qualified for the regional in the 200M (ninth place), 400M (fourth), and the long jump (third) for the eight and under girls.
Josie Reckelberg qualified in the long jump (second place), 100M (10th), and 200M (12th) for the eight and under girls.
Alex Kinney competed in the boys 10-year-old division and qualified in the 400M (third place) and 1500M (first).
Carter Reckelberg qualified in the 100M (first place), 200M (first) and long jump (first), winning with a leap of 14’ 8 ½”, setting a new AAU district qualifying meet record for his age group.
Macy Spear qualified in the long jump (third place) and the 100M (fourth) for the 12-year-old girls.
Caleb Reckelberg qualified in the discus (second place) for the 12-year-old boys.
Mitch Soltau qualified in the 100M (fourth place), 200M (third) and took first place in the discus for 11-year-old boys.
Ethan Holm advanced winning the triple jump for the 17/18-year-old men’s division.
