Reckelberg, Angell lead Bulldog boys at state track meet

It was another hugely successful MSHSL State Track Meet for the Becker Bulldogs, as Carter Reckelberg and Owen Angell again led the team.

“We finished fourth overall in team scoring at the AA Championships held at STMA high school,” Coach Paul Schmidt reported.

Becker amassed 42 team points behind the strong performances of Reckelberg and Angell.

Carter picked up his second consecutive state championship in the long jump with a leap of 23’.75”.

“That was over a foot longer than any other competitor at the meet,” Schmidt said.

He also finished sixth in state in the 200, racing to a time of 22.32 seconds.

Angell was another bright spot for the Bulldogs, as he finished second in the pole vault by clearing the 14 foot mark.

He also ran in both the 110 and 300 hurdles and finished in fourth place in both events.  In the 110’s, he broke the school record in hitting a time of 14.54, and in the 300 hurdles, he bested his old school record and set the new mark with a time of 38.91.

Another school record fell for the Bulldogs in the 4x800 relay, as the Becker team finished sixth at state and set the new mark with a time of 8:09.9.

Running the relay for the Bulldogs were Evan Hubbard, Parker Spindler, Brandt Hemmelgarn, and Tanner Felton.

All in all, it was a record breaking state meet for the Bulldogs who came away with numerous state medals and school records.
