Last Thursday, former members of the Becker High School soccer team challenged the current high school team as part of their annual Alumni vs. Current Players soccer game at BHS.
“We had a perfect night to kick off the 2017 Becker Girls soccer season with the annual alumni night,” said Coach Gretchen Changamire.
The current team competes in a friendly game versus alumni that span back to 2008 graduates. This is the players’ 10th year doing an alumni night and the athletes and the coaches say “its a blast to see current and former players playing on the field together.”
Nick Crowley, the JV Boys Coach and a former Bulldog soccer player, officiated as Head Girls Coach Arnold Changamire commentated. Last year, the current players beat the alumni but this year, the
Alumni grabbed bragging rights back, beating the current players, 3-2.
The friendly and competitive game usually showcases more of the player’s foot work and skills, rather than scoring ability. Forty past and present girls participated.
“Thanks to all who have been a part and help build our program the last 10 years,” said Changamire. “And to current players that keep building our program. It was a great night for Becker Girls Soccer!”
