The match started well for the home squad as Josh Lumley  won a major decision over Mason Sanborn, 11-2. The Bulldogs bench was fired up and the wrestlers were looking to showcase their talent in front of Burroughs, who was in town as a result of wrestler Colten Demant winning an essay contest.

 

Mora dashed Becker’s hope following the Lumley match, winning the next five matches with major decisions and falls to take a huge lead heading into the heavier weight classes.

 

The rest of the way, the two teams traded wins with the final four matches being decided by pins.

“It was a tough loss for us last night,” said Head Coach Matt Aho. “However, we did have a great experience with Jordan Burroughs on our bench and part of our team. That experience is one that our wrestlers will never forget.”

Last Friday, Becker hosted a three team meet against Champlin Park and Fillmore Central and won both their meets to improve to 12-5 on the year.

 

Becker got wins from Lumley, Andres, Demant, Vekved, Ferris, Zimmer, Lee, France and Vesledahl in the 40-28 win over Fillmore Central, then got wins from Lumley, Andres, Demant, Johnson, Vekved, Ferris, Hildebrandt, Zimmer, France, Lee, Weberg, Olson and Vesledahl in the 61-6 win over Champlin Park.

 

“We where able to keep our win streak going getting two more wins on Friday,” said Aho. “I was happy to see that our wrestlers were able to keep their intensity up during both matches. We won several matches that where pretty close and our intensity helped come away with the wins.”
