Mike Slininger traveled all the way from Moorhead to win the Cupid’s Heart Class C Horseshoe Tournament at the Becker courts, Sat., Feb. 17. Slininger won six and lost one with a 20.36 ringer percentage.
Slininger was tied with Scott Chalmers, who had a 6-1 mark also. Slininger won on a tie-breaker by shooting 48% over his entry average. Chalmers took second place and Michael Timm took third at 4-3.
Jim Aleckson traveled one mile from his Becker home to win the Class B Roses Division in the six-person class. Aleckson won all five games, defeating Denise Kleven in the first match, 28-14. Kleven from Chaska, finished second with a 3.5-1.5 record and 42% ringers. Aleckson had 46%. Aaron Meade rounded out the class with a 2.5-2.5 record for third place.
The Class A Arrows Division could not have been closer. The six-person class was won by Myron VanderWeyst of Rice, who lost the first two games, then won the last three to capture first place with a 3-2 record. VanderWeyst also won the tie-breaker by going over his entry average of 48%. Jerry Werk of Herman was second at 3-2. Josh Olson of Bertha was third at 3-2. Russ Girtz and Michelle Foard rounded out the class at 2-3. Werk and Olson had the high ringer percentages at 48%.
The next tournament at the Becker courts is Sat., March 16 and is called the Pot-Of-Gold Tournament.
