Last week’s annual Becker Area Chamber of Commerce golf outing featured 44 players and 11 teams and was held on a warm summer evening at Pebble Creek. The foursome from Edward Jones — Linda Winkelman, Bob Winkelman, Paige Lingman and Jordan Lingman — came away with the first place prize with the lowest score. Second place went to the Vetsches and Joneses (Darek and Mason Vetsch and Wayne and Colton Jones) of Russell’s on the Lake.

 

Finishing in last place was the foursome from Xcel Energy, Steve Schoenborn, Jared Graham, Bill Wilts and Tom Wark.

 

“It was a great day with beautiful weather,” said Chamber Manager Lynette Brannan. “Everyone said they had a great time and loved the dinner served.”

 

The dinner was prime rib and chicken catered by Russell’s on the Lake.

 

The golf took place at 3 p.m. last Thursday and was played on the Blue 9. Many “side games” were played along the course including a golf ball roll down a tape measurer, an egg and spoon carry through a rope ladder and tic-tac-toe. Golfers were also given the opportunity to purchase scratch-offs and buy mulligans to increase their chances at bringing home prizes.

 

Numerous businesses paid to be hole sponsors including CentraCare-Monticello, Xcel Energy, Los Ortizes, Sherburne State Bank, Becker Spine, Anytime Fitness, Connexus Energy and Haller Realty.

 

American Family Insurance sponsored the tic-tac-toe game while Becker Furniture World sponsored the carts, Country Lumber sponsored the water, Workhorse Construction sponsored the scratch-offs and the Becker Chamber sponsored the mulligans.

 

Dozens of donations came in from local merchants including the City of Becker (two pairs of concert at the creek tickets), Sherburne County (folding chairs/bags/umbrellas/notepad cases and picture frames), Custom Comfort Beds (certificates), Monticello Printing (two Office Max gift cards), Cafe Pawz ($25 gift card), Russell’s on the Lake ($25 gift certificate/bottle of wine), Oak Realty (logo sweatshirt), Sherburne State Bank (basket), Mary Kay (two skin products), Chamber (Celebrate Becker shirts), Jubilee Liquor (wine) and Majestic Creations (cribbage board).
