The Becker boys tennis team improved to 5-3 on the year with a win over St. Cloud Tech Tuesday and a loss to Sartell Monday.
Sartell 4, Becker 3
It was a really tough match tonight in Sartell,” said Becker Head Coach Hokan Bengtson.
Becker won in three sets at #2 and #4 singles. They lost in three sets at #3 doubles.
“Some great points played at many of the positions,” Bengtson said.
Lukkarila remained undefeated at 7-0 on the season.

No. 1 - Jacob Lukkarila (BB) defeated Yash Hindka (SS), 6-0, 6-1; No. 2 - Brady Gruenhagen (BB) defeated Austin Adelman (SS), 7-5, 4-6, 6-3; No. 3 - Ben Hoeschen (SS) defeated Ryan Bengtson (BB), 6-4, 6-2; No. 4 - Zach Bengtson (BB) defeated Eli Lawson (SS), 2-6, 6-2, 7-5.

No. 1 - Max Fesernmaier and Thomas Connolly (SS) defeated Aiden Persons and Eli Scheideman (BB), 6-1, 6-1; No. 2 - Patrick Stalboerger and Eddie Hamilton (SS) defeated Wyatt Hiltner and Caden Elliot (BB), 6-3, 6-2; No. 3 - Mo Alkhatib and Devin Peterson (SS) defeated Isaac Boyer and Luke Bordson (BB), 3-6, 6-3, 5-7.
Becker 4, Tech 3
“We won a huge match today versus St. Cloud Tech,” said Bengtson. “We have never beaten them in tennis, so to pull out a 4-3 win was huge!”
Becker had some extremely close matches in singles Tuesday at home and unfortunately they lost all three close ones. But, Becker’s doubles teams played tremendously.
Lukkarila continued to dominate, leading at #1 singles, 6-0, 6-0 and now has a record of 8-0 this season.

No. 1 - Caden Elliott and Aiden Persons (BB) defeated Ben Nelson and Michael Plombom (SCT), 6-3, 6-3; No. 2 - Ryan Bengston and Eli Scheideman (BB) defeated Max Rud and Ripley Garden (SCT), 6-2, 6-1; No. 3 - Wyatt Hiltner and Isaac Boyer (BB) defeated Isaac Baker and Tomiwa Ajayi (SCT), 6-1, 6-0.

A beautiful day Thursday saw the Bulldogs face off against another Granite Ridge opponent in Mora.
The match of the day was a two-hour, 20-minute classic at #1 doubles. Persons and Ryan Bengtson battled back-and-forth with a solid #1 team from Mora and emerged with a big win to complete the sweep. Persons and Bengtson were down 4-5 (love - 40) in the final set and battled all the way back to win 7-5 in the third set!
