At the Hamline Elite Meet last Friday, Hornet Jack Leuer set a new school record and won the 800 meters in 1:55.26. That eclipses the old mark of 1:56.14 set by Greg Smock back in 1997.
Owen Layton was fourth in the 1600 meters in 4:20.08.
Tayla Glassman won the 200-meter wheelchair race in 1:14.12.
Big Lake’s 4x400 relay team of Caleb Kennedy, Owen Layton, Josh Kennedy and Jack Leuer finished sixth overall in 3:29.84.
Big Lake Invitational
A day earlier at the Big Lake Invitational, Montell Hester took first in the 200 meters in 11.97 seconds.
Trent Erickson was second in the 1600 meters in 4:57.29, with David Guyse fifth in 5:03.16.
Gavin Flavin finished second in the 3200 meters in 10:29.71.
Preston Wesseh, Dylan Kunz and Jerry Vazquez each went 5’6” in the high jump and finished 3-4-5 respectively.
Caleb Kennedy finished third in the 200 meters in 24.31.
Wuoson Nehwah ran 17.69 to take fourth in the 110 hurdles. He was also fourth in the 300 hurdles in 44.99. Precieux Sanguma was seventh in 46.33.
Abe Nebo took fourth in the long jump at 19’4.5,” with Wesseh fifth at 19’2.5”.
Alton Ahamed was sixth in the 400 meters in 55.81.
Gavin Vold took seventh in the 800 meters in 2:14.95.
Chaz Hughes had the longest throws for Big Lake in the shot put (28’6.5”) and discus (90’5”).
The 4x800 relay team of Flavin, Erickson, Judd Layton and Theo Johnson finished second in 9:16.99.
Big Lake’s 4x100 relay team of Maurice Yekeku, Jose Acuna, Sanguma and Hester took fourth in 47.34.
The 4x400 relay of Guyse, Kevin Winkelman, Gavin Vold and Jerry Vazquez was fourth in 3:52.92.
Girls Track
For the girls, Campbell took second in the 1600 meters in 5:57.87.
Leah Uphoff was third in the 100 meter hurdles in 18.22 seconds, with Alivia Voss sixth in 19.0 seconds. Uphoff took sixth in the 300 hurdles in 52.34.
Voss took third in the high jump at 4’10,” matching her personal best.
Naomi Huizenga took third in the triple jump at 31’5.5”.
Emilee Doperalski finished fifth in the 3200 meters in 13:15. 87.
Britta White placed fifth in the long jump at 15’8”.
Shiloh Elliott was seventh in the 100 meters in 14.44 seconds, with Eleonora Piva right behind in eighth in 14.49.
Sydney Roy took ninth in the 200 meters in 29.43.
Arrianna Wagner ran the 400 meters in 1:13;89, good for 10th.
Greta Schwirtz had the team’s longest throw in the shot put at 25’8”.
Elsie Johnson had Big Lake’s longest throw in the discus at 67’6”.
In the wheelchair events, Tayla Glassman threw the discus 40’7,” threw the shot put 19’5.5,” went 45.40 seconds in the 100 meters and 1:20.05 in the 200 meters.
Big Lake’s 4x100 relay team of Sydney Roy, Britta White, Shiloh Elliott and Raina White was fifth in 54.70.
The 4x200 relay team of Roy, Elliott, Uphoff and Eleonora Piva took fourth in 1:56.18.
The 4x400 team of Naomi Huizenga, Kayleigh Pregler, Emily Edmund and Piva finished sixth in 4:40.87.
The 4x800 relay team of Maia Wenderski, Doperalski, Emily Shoop and Slattery took fifth in 11:44.77.
The Hornets were scheduled to compete at Chisago Lakes Tuesday and Princeton Thursday, results next week.
