Legion Team Season Ends With 2 Sub District Losses

The Becker American Legion baseball team saw the end of the road in its 2016 season with two close losses in sub-district play Tuesday and Wednesday nights in Princeton.
 
They lost by 3-1 to the No. 3 seed St. Francis Legion Tuesday. Leading hitters included Clayton Gallus, 2-4, with a run scored, Cody Guenhagen, 1-3, and Matt Yoerg, 1-4 with an RBI. Kendal Hanson pitched seven innings, allowing three runs, of which two were earned. He gave up five hits while striking out nine and walking five.
 
In their second game, an elimination game Wednesday, Zimmerman topped the Becker boys, 3-2. 
 
Leading hitters for Becker were Gallus, 1-3 with a run scored, Connor Roff, 1-3 with an RBI, Casey Vesladah, 1-4 with an RBI, John Mann, 1-4, and Matt Krenz, 1-3.
 
Mann started the game and pitched four strong innings, allowing two earned runs on two hits and while striking out two and walking four. Gallus pitched the final five innings, allowing just one run, not earned, on four hits while striking out four and walking one.
