The Becker American Legion team hosted the Big Lake Hornets Tuesday and came up empty, 3-0.
The game was a scoreless affair until the eighth inning when the Hornets crossed home plate three times in the top of the inning. Becker failed to score in the bottom and left the field downcast.
The two teams could only muster two hits apiece while both defenses committed five errors (Becker 3, Big Lake 2).
Charlie Gellerman of Big Lake pitched all eight innings, recording four strikeouts, four walks on two hits. Becker’s Kendal Hanson started the game and went five innings giving up one hit while striking out six and walking none.
Matt Moe came on in relief in the sixth and surrendered the three runs on one hit and one walk while striking out three.
Jonathan Book was 1-for-3 and one RBI for Big Lake. Ben Busse drove in the other two runs as he finished 1-for-4 while striking out once.
The two hits for Becker came off the bats of Moe and Matt Krenz.
