Big Lake Doubleheader
Last week, the Becker American Legion baseball team played Big Lake twice — one was a continuation of a suspended game from June 16 and one was their regularly scheduled game June 30.

The continuation game — originally being played in Big Lake June 16 —  was originally suspended due to rain and lightning and was stopped with Becker leading 6-2 in the fourth inning. Becker went on to win the game 12-4 June 30.

Leading hitters for Becker were Tyler Thorson, who was 3-4 with a triple; Clayton Gallus, who was 2-3 with a triple and Austin Rasmussen, who was 2-3.

Winning pitcher was Casey Vesledahl. He pitched the first four innings June 16 and then completed his game with three more shutout innings June 30. He finished this game with seven innings pitched, allowing two earned runs on five hits.

After a short break, game two commenced with Vesledahl on the mound for Becker once again. Vesledahl pitched a complete game,  allowing zero earned runs on just two hits while striking out eight.

Becker won the game 8-0.

Leading hitters in this game were Cody Gruenhagen, who was 3-3 with two doubles and one triple with one RBI and Vesledahl, who was 3-4 with a double and two RBIs.

This week Becker hosts Zimmerman Monday, Monticello Tuesday, then travels to Zimmerman Thursday.
