SENIOR LUKE LAHR ran well at state last weekend, but couldn’t keep pace with the record-setting run of Hopkins runner Joe Klecker who finished well ahead of the field.
JUNIOR SHOT PUTTER DILLON RADUNZ posed with Hannah Schmidt and their medals following their great success at the state tournament at Hamline University last weekend.

Lahr, Radunz Do Well At State In Track

Becker Bulldog track stars Dillon Radunz and Luke Lahr competed in the class AA state track meet at Hamline last Friday and Saturday.

For Radunz, he had one toss in prelims that went 51'11" and that length was able to hold up through finals for a sixth place finish and a spot on the medal stand.
Kieran McKeag of Apple Valley took first place with a toss of 59’ 08.50”.

“Dillon really came on at the end of the season and it is exciting to think what he has the potential to do next year,” said Head Coach Paul Schmidt. “With this year’s experience and his hard work ethic, we will look for good things next year.”

For Lahr, it was an end to a successful senior year. Making it to state in cross country and in track  had been goals of Lahr's and Schmidt was excited to see him succeed.

“The 1600 pace was extremely fast with the state record from 1986 falling that day,” said Schmidt.

Lahr ran his top time in the 1600 at 4:37.91, but was not able to stay up with the record setting pace set by Joe Klecker from Hopkins at 4:06.54. Klecker’s time surpassed the previous record of 4:08.51 held by Nick Schneider of Benilde-St. Margaret’s in 2001.

Nate Souther of Big Lake ran well and finished in 4:28.90

“Overall, it was a great experience for the kids and fun to be a part of a great two days of competition which saw multiple records fall,” said the head coach.
