Lady Bulldogs Go 1 1, Get Ranked On Defense

The Lady Bulldogs basketball team went 1-1 this week to improve to 10-7 overall.
 
Becker 68, Milaca 37
 
Carlee Kobow scored 17 and nine Bulldogs made the scoring sheet as Becker pounded the Milaca Wolves, 68-37 Tuesday night in Milaca.
 
Alexa Hanowski, Abbigail Morrell, Alex Johnson and Maddie Kerzman contributed eight points a piece in the win.
 
Milaca was led by Alex Ploeger and Makayla Paggen who each had 12 points.
 
Becker Scoring: Kobow 17, Hanowski 8, Morrell 8, Johnson 8, Kerzman 8, Amanda Lindsay 7, Rachel Vogl 6, Whitney Raygor 4 and Renae Tripp 2.
 
Milaca Scoring: Ploeger 12, Paggen 12, Ashley Cassens 9, Kalysta Kotke 2 and Ellie Banks 2.
 
Foley 77, Becker 62
 
Tara Dusharm led Foley to a 77-62 win over Becker with 35 points last Friday night in Foley.
 
Dusharm needed 31 points entering the game to break the career scoring record of 1,957 that has stood since 2002 and surpassed that mark it in the second half.
 
The 6-foot-5 senior is headed to Division I St. Louis University on a basketball scholarship.
 
In addition, Kenzie Dingmann scored 11 points and Shelby Lewandowski added eight points for the Falcons (12-4).
 
Alexa Hanowski led Becker with 13 points.
 
Becker Scoring: Hanowski 13, Vogl 12, Morrell 10, Lindsay 8, Raygor 7, Kobow 6, Johnson 4 and Kalley Anderson 2.
 
Foley Scoring: Dusharm 35, Kenzie Dingmann 11, Shelby Lewandowski 8, Madi Knapek 7, Bailyn Walz 6, Nicole Zapf 6 and Cassie Larson 4.
 
The Bulldogs are currently ranked 12th on defense in the state for Class 3A schools.
 
Up next for Becker (10-7, 4-4) was a game Friday at Albany (full report on game in next week’s Citizen), then they play back-to-back home games Monday and Tuesday against Mound Westonka and Mora before hitting the road Thursday to play at Zimmerman.
