Lady Bulldogs Beat Magic, Lose To Huskies

The Becker Bulldogs girls basketball team split two games this past week and currently sit at 11-8 on the season, 4-5 in the Granite Ridge Conference.
 
Bulldogs 46, Magic 34
The Lady Bulldogs dispelled Monticello’s Magic Tuesday in Monticello by a dozen points.
 
Guard Alexa Hanowski lit up the scoreboard with 14 points to lead both teams in scoring on the night. Monticello’s Amber Okerson had 10 to lead the Magic.
 
Becker held a slim two-point lead at halftime but Hanowski and crew poured it on the second half while shutting down the offense of the Magic, giving up just 15 points in the second frame.
 
Becker had six hoopsters make the scoresheet while Monticello had seven.
 
Becker Scoring: Hanowski 14, Amanda Lindsay 9, Alex Johnson 9, Carlee Kobow 8, Kalley anderson 4 and Abbigail Morrell 2.
 
Monticello Scoring: Okerson 10, Alex Revenig 7, Brooke Bechtold 6, Kenzie Cruzen 4, Melissa Schmitt 3, Jaelyn Miltz 2 and Katie Fisette 2.
 
Albany 58, Becker 50
Senior guard Emily Schoenberg had 21 points to lead Albany past Becker on the road last Friday night.
 
Junior guard Abbigail Morrell had 23 points to lead Becker.
 
Junior guard Sidney Schiffler added 12 points for the Huskies.
 
Albany led 30-17 at halftime and the Bulldogs mounted a furious comeback, but the deficit was too big to overcome.
 
The Bulldogs played at Mora Friday night (full report on game in next week’s Citizen), then host two games next week including a matchup against Zimmerman Tuesday and against Duluth East Thursday.
