Lacrosse Team Suffers Two Humbling Losses

The Becker boys lacrosse team lost two matches this week, one to Hermantown last Friday at home and one to Delano Thursday on the road.

Hermantown 15, Becker 5
Senior Cale Macmillan had three goals, senior Alex Nelson had one goal and sophomore Austin Berning had one goal to account for Becker’s five goals, but the Hermantown Hawks tripled Becker’s output with 15 goals.

Junior Goalie Tanner Pieper had 14 saves on 29 shots.

Hermantown fielded the three Palusky brothers (Ethan, Connor and Noah), which was too much for the Bulldogs.  Ethan finished with one assist, Connor had a goal and an assist and Noah had three goals and four assists.

Louie Hnatko also had a five-pint game (four goals, one assist) for the Hawks.

Early penalties committed by the Bulldogs put Hermantown up four goals in the first period.  Despite their strong effort, the Bulldogs could not come back from the deficit and fell by 10.

Delano 14, Becker 4
In another 10-goal differential game, the Bulldogs struggled against the Delano Tigers Thursday and lost big.

Junior Blake Angell scored two goals for the Bulldogs, MacMillian scored one goal and sophomore Jacob Berning scored one goal.

Junior Bulldog goalie AJ Bunrock played the first two quarters and had four saves in eight shots.  Pieper relieved Bunrock in the second half and had four saves on 14 shot attempts.
Delano’s Mitchell Durst (leading division  goal scorer with 35 for the season) was kept in check by the Bulldog defensive players, senior Jordan Klinker, junior Mitch Soenneker and sophomore Kaj Fritch.  But the Tigers transitioned to shooting from their midfielders at the top of the box and the Bulldog defense nor goalie tandem could slow them down.
