The Becker girls lacrosse team split two games this week and are now 3-2 on the year.
Becker 13, Monticello 12
Becker played Monticello Monday and came away with a close, one-goal win.
The game was a scheduled game postponed due to cold, snowy and rainy conditions.
The Bulldogs got off to a very quick start, mounting a 4-0 lead. From there, the game was very even but the Bulldogs prevailed in the waning seconds to come away with the big win over rival Monticello.
Katie Pursley had a great game and was Becker’s top scorer. Olivia Hultgren had several key plays to keep the girls ahead on the score board.
“Kelsi Halverson, Andrea Moles, Halle Lindsey, Bailey Gilchrist and Kate Berning really stepped up the defensive effort to hold off the Monticello charge,” said Head Coach Travis Opgenorth.
STMA 13, Becker 8
Tuesday, Becker played STMA at home on a sunny, windy afternoon.
Coach Opgenorth commented that Tuesday’s effort was not his team’s best as they allowed the Knights to march to a 9-4 lead in the first half.
The Bulldogs came back with a surge in the second half but didn't have enough to catch the visitors and lost by five.
Pursley led all scorers with four and preformed well despite a tweaked ankle.
“This girl has a ton of heart,” said the head coach.
Becker’s next game will be away versus a very tough opponent in Wayzata Monday.
