Caleb Vekved, Cody Ferris and Bobby Lee all took first place in their weight classes in the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa wrestling invitational last Friday night.
Becker also had five other wrestlers place in the top four and six wrestlers make the finals.
“Having over half our team place in the top four was a good accomplishment for us,” said Head Coach Matt Aho. “Coming away with three champions is the most that I have had as a head coach during this tournament, which was a fun milestone to accomplish.”

145-lbs.: Caleb Vekved (1st place); 152-lbs.: Cody Ferris (1st); 160-lbs.: Zack Zimmer (2nd); 170-lbs.: Bobby Lee (1st); 182-lbs.: Tyler France (4th); 195-lbs.: Chris Weberg (2nd); 220-lbs.: Mason Olson (2nd) and 285-lbs.: Casey Vesledahl (3rd).
JV at Royalton
The Bulldog JV wrestling team took home the third place title in the Royalton JV wrestling tournament Saturday.
JV Top Wrestlers:
195-lbs.: Trevor Goodrich (1st place); 220-lbs.: Cody Case (1st); 132-lbs.: George Lomelli (2nd); 95-lbs.: Jacob Berning (2nd); 170-lbs.: Cody Stangler (3rd) and 120-lbs.: Kevin Andres (3rd).
The varsity and JV teams were to wrestle at home Tuesday against Mora, but the match was cancelled due to frigid weather. The Bulldogs competed at home Friday against Fergus Falls, Delano and North St. Paul and a full report on the matches will appear in next week’s Citizen.
