Tuesday afternoon, the Big Lake girls tennis team hosted the Monticello Magic and lost by three matches.

At #1 singles, Ari Laun lost to Monticello’s Hannah Mayer by 6-3, 6-4 scores. At #2 singles, Ella Dotzler succumbed to Emma Cordell of Monticello, 6-2, 7-5. Big Lake’s Sophie Jones, battling at #3 singles, lost a tough match to Monticello’s Rebecca Rousslang, 6-3, 6-3. Finally, at #4 singles, Hornet Lilly Stolte knocked off Monticello’s Samantha Pullen by 6-3, 6-4 scores.

At #1 doubles, the Magic twosome of Grace Kuta and Rachel Solberg defeated Big Lake’s Sophie Wesolowski and Janelle Gerdts, 6-2, 5-7, 7-6 (4). Monticello’s Taylor Gearey and Abigail DeLarco beat Big Lake’s Brynn Mossak and Emmy Browne, 7-5, 7-6 (3) at #2 doubles.

Big Lake’s #3 doubles team of Kayla Niedzielski and Amelia Gardner beat Monticello’s Hannah Melvin and Ava Melvin, 6-3, 6-3.

Bulldogs 7, Hornets 0

The Hornets lost to the Becker Bulldogs Aug. 27.

At #1 singles, Becker’s Courtney Nuest defeated Laun of Big Lake, 6-0 , 6-0.At #2 singles, Maddie Moe, beat Big Lake’s Dotzler,  by 6-1 , 6-2 scores. At #3 singles, Becker’s Ayla Brown knocked off Jones, 6-0 , 6-1. At #4 singles, Bulldog Dani Nuest beat Amelia Gardner of Big Lake, 6-0 , 6-2.

At #1 doubles, Becker’s Alayna Lindquist, and Julia Bengtson bounced Wesolowski and Stolte,  6-1 , 6-1. At #2 doubles, Becker’s Jackie Yoerg and Jazlyn Toedter defeated Big Lake’s Janelle Gerdts and Emmy Bowne, 6-4, 6-0. At #3 doubles, Becker’s - Janelle Gudim and Hannah Uecker knocked off Big Lake’s Brynn Mossak and Kayla Niedzielski, 6-3 , 6-2.
