Hornets fall to 0-2 with loss to Tigers

The Big Lake Hornets football squad dropped their second game of the season, this time to the paws of the Hutchinson Tigers last Thursday on the road.

Hutchinson (2-0) got two running scores from Ty Glaser and one from T. Hoppe to send the Hornets to an 0-2 start to the 2020 season. It won’t get any easier as the Hornets head to Becker this week to take on the 1-0 Bulldogs, who had their Friday night game canceled with Delano due to COVID-19.

Big Lake got their only score from Reed Bottema, who reeled in a nine-yard pass from QB Brandon Stern in the second quarter to bring the score to 8-7 in favor of the Tigers.

Glaser’s TD runs came from 25 yards out and one yard out — this first in the first quarter and the second in the third. Hoppe’s TD came on a four yard jaunt to the end zone in the fourth.

Stern was 2-of-6 for 32 yards and the one score. Haden Thicke had seven carries for 42 yards for the Hornets.

On defense, Bottema had four tackles and six assists while Rieley Mullen had two tackles, 10 assists and three tackles for loss.
