The Big Lake Hornet girls soccer team pulled out a close win, 2-1 over the Princeton Tigers on the road.
The Tigers got the first goal of the game from a long punt from their goal keeper to a forward sprinting on to the ball. The player then launched a shot into the corner of the net for a 1-0 lead.
The Tigers managed to keep the lead until 20 minutes into the second half when a throw-in to a Hornet forward led to a one touch pass to her teammate, who dribbled past three Tiger defenders to score the goal.
Then, with 15 minutes left in the game, Princeton turned over the ball to an attacking midfielder who beat four Princeton defenders before scoring the winning goal.
As the announcer counted down the last 10 seconds of the game, Princeton took one more shot on Big Lake’s goal keeper, but it was stopped and Big Lake walked away with the win.
