The Big Lake Hornets Winter sports teams have been busy starting up their seasons just before Winter break. Below, find tidbits on the teams found on social sites and internet pages.

Hornet Dance

The Big Lake Dance Team took home third place in Kick at the Lakeville North Invite Dec. 11. Prior to that, they kicked off their regular season at Forest Lake Dec. 7. Varsity Jazz scored 255/500 and placed fourth and Varsity Kick scored 278/500 and lost a double tie breaker to finish fourth. Varsity Kick scored five points higher at Forest Lake than they did at sections last season!

Their next competition was the Mississippi 8 Conference Invite Dec. 13 at North Branch.

Hornet Wrestling

The Big Lake Hornet wrestling team hosted an 8-team invitational Dec. 3. The Hornets combined team score of 204.5 was good enough for second place in the event. Royalton edged out Big Lake with a team score of 207 to win the team portion of the invite.

Top individual performances on the night included: Cash Sixberry (120) – first place, 3-0 with three pins; Christian Noble (126) – first place, 2-0 with one pin; Nolan Reiter (132) – second place, 2-1 with two pins; Zack Smith (138) – third place, 3-1 with three pins; Dillon Browen (145) – third place, 3-1; Tyler Dehmer (160) – third place, 3-1 with three pins; John Murphy (170) – third place, 3-1 with one pin; Kane LaPointe (285) – first place, 2-0 with two pins.
