Grfia Golf Tourney Raises $18,000

Seventy-two golfers descended upon Pebble Creek Monday afternoon to play in the annual Great River Faith In Action (GRFIA) Golf Tournament.

GRFIA holds two main events annually to raise funds to properly manage their organization — a golf tournament in August and a gala in March.

“We use our events for awareness of who we are and what we are doing in our communities so growth not only helps fundraising but gives us outreach to people that might not be aware of the difference we are making,” said Executive Director Darin Bohlken.

“This (golf tournament) is designed to just be a fun day of golf and fundraising for us and a way for us to thank our supporters.”

Supporters for Monday’s event included hole sponsors, hole-in-one sponsors, gold, silver and bronze sponsors and prize donors.

Gold sponsors were: Pellco, Darter Plastics, Ichor, Becker Furniture World, Victory Ministries, J&B Foods, Northwest Machine and M&M Machining.

Silver sponsors were: Bergan KDV and UMC.

Bronze sponsors were: United Health Group, Community Development Bank, Gries Lenhardt Allen and Wyoming Machine.

Hole sponsors included: United Health Care, Sherburne State Bank, Liberty Paper and St. Cloud Toyota.

Hole-in-one sponsor was Rooke, Johnson & Renslow Insurance.

“Prize donors were too numerous to list but several area golf courses and restaurants donated as well as TJ Potter Trucking, Darter Plastics, MITGI, Mitsubishi Materials, Breezy Point, Ruttgers Lodge and Victory Ministries.”

Bohlken said GRFIA is looking to grow both of their events next year so more sponsors, supporters and teams are needed.

“We will be working on our gala next which will be March 28 at Rockwoods,” said Bohlken. “We are looking forward to having 230 to 250 guests this year.”

Monday’s golf outing was played under ideal weather, with moderate temperatures and bright sunshine.

“Everyone seemed to really enjoy the event,” said Bohlken. “Pebble Creek did a great job for the third straight year with our event.”

Pebble Creek provided a meal after the tournament that featured roast beef, potatoes, vegetables, breadsticks and a salad.
