The Becker Bulldogs boys and girls golf teams both kicked off their seasons Monday.

 

 

Competing against 18 area teams, the Becker boys golf team competed at the Bulldog Invitational held at Becker’s Pebble Creek Golf Club.

 

Competing for the Bulldogs were senior captain Austin Seavert, Zach Stanz, Ethan Tobako, Gavin Murphy, Tucker Rhodes and Zach Stanger. 

 

Seavert led the team with his final score of 80, which placed him in a tie for 22nd place individually. Stanz (85), Tobako (87) and Murphy (94) also received counting scores.

 

As a team, the golfers shot 346, putting them in 13th place for the meet. The course was played as a par 70 as par 5 #2 was played as a par 3.

 

“The boys played some good stretches of golf, but had some struggles as most do during the first few rounds on the course,” said Head Coach Dan Olson. “I’m liking what I saw during their good stretches of holes that they played. Hopefully our scores will continue to drop as we get more time on the course.”

 

Waconia won the invite with a team score of 292. Brett Reid from the Community Christian School of Willmar took home the top honor individually, shooting a five under 65.

 

Weather permitting, the team’s next meet is scheduled for Monday at the Stone Creek Golf Course against Albany, Foley, Little Falls, Milaca, Mora, St. Cloud Cathedral and Zimmerman.

 

 

The Becker girls golf team competed against Monticello at their invitational held at the Monticello Country Club.

 

Weather permitting, the team’s next meet is Monday at Spring Brook Golf Course against Albany, Foley, Little Falls, Milaca, Mora and St. Cloud Cathedral.

 

The team will also be competing at Stones Throw Golf Course against Milaca on Wednesday and Pebble Creek Golf Course Thursday against Albany, Annandale, B.O.L.D., Big Lake, Cambridge-Isanti, Dassel-Cokato, Detroit Lakes, Holy Family Catholic, Hutchinson, St. Francis and Waconia. The meet was moved from last Thursday due to the weather.
