Global Action teed up their 20th annual Global Action Golf Classic at Pebble Creek last Thursday, August 22.
Golfers, sponsors, volunteers and special guests arrived at 7 a.m. in the morning, a putting contest was held, and golfers teed off at 8 a.m. There were contests and games on several of the holes and Ben Hogan (Steve Whitaker) appeared on hole #17 with a putting challenge.
Thanks to the golfers, hole sponsors, other donations and the games on the course, $78,000 was raised for Global Action’s work.
A lunch followed the golf and prizes were awarded for the first three places and the special contests. Two teams tied for first place and a scorecard playoff determined that the team of Barry Quernemoen, Caleb Quernemoen, Alex Stanz, and Payton Johnson had won.
The team of Dwight Lundeen, Ryan Paal, Hokon Bengston, and Dave Lundeen conceded to second place. Barry Quernemoen won the putting contest and a prize of a $100 gift card to Runnings in Monticello.
President Rick Thompson and Director Bailey Bada from Global Action flew in for the tournament and spoke at the lunch about how the funds raised will go directly to training Christian leaders and pastors around the world, as 90% of them have no theological training.
Special thanks goes to: Sherburne State Bank, Rebecca’s Café, Country Lumber, Paul Knier Investment Advisor, Midwest Bus Parts, Scheideman Chiropractic, NorthRisk Partners, Cory Laugen at State Farm Insurance, Old Main Eatery, Marksman Metals and many others for sponsoring the tournament.
