The U11 Girls Tri-County United Soccer Team (Becker, Zimmerman and Big Lake) earned a spot in the Minnesota State Soccer Tournament, July 17-20 in Shakopee.
The team played in the qualifier tournament recently, winning all three of their games and placed first in the North District.
By gaining the top spot in the North District, the team captured one of six six spots available in the state tournament. At state, they will play against the winning teams from the East, West and South Districts of Minnesota.
The 2016 soccer season is the first summer season for the Tri-County United Soccer Association. Last fall, the Big Lake, Zimmerman and Becker soccer associations merged to form Tri-County United to provide more soccer opportunities to the youth in the surrounding communities.
The Tri-County United soccer team consists of Glory, Abby, Emry, Mady, Ava, Rachel, Rylie, Willow, Lexi, Hannah, Kacie, Gabby, Halle, Kaydn and Makenzie. The team is coached by Kelly, Mike and Christian.
The state games for Tri-County United are scheduled for Sun., July 17 at 2 p.m. and Wed., July 20 at 7:30 p.m. The soccer fields are located at 2600 East 17th Ave. in Shakopee.
