Girls Soccer Team’s Season Ends With Section Loss At Home

The Becker Bulldog girls soccer team hosted their first-ever Section 6A tournament match Tuesday and their season ended with a 1-0 loss to Hutchinson.

Hutchinson was the #10 seed and Becker (11-5-1) was #7 and the underdog Tigers  managed to pick up the program’s second playoff victory ever. 
 
Chrissy Dennison set up the game-winner when she found  Grace Penke in the open and Penke made the Bulldogs pay when she slipped the ball past goalkeeper Kalani Bauer in the 10th minute of the first half.
 
It was Penke’s 20th goal of the season.
 
Bauer ended up with nine saves on 10 shots while Hutchinson’s Sydney Crims had eight saves.
 
This win sets up a rematch between the Tigers and Waconia Wildcats in the section quarterfinals. Waconia is the No. 2 seed in the section and it finished second in the Wright County Conference standings.
 
Becker 1, Watertown-Mayer 1
 
In Becker’s final regular season game of the 2015 campaign, the Bulldogs finished with a 1-1 tie to Watertown-Mayer on the road last Friday.
 
Becker’s lone goal came off the foot of Lauren Sticha.
