Girls Lacrosse Team Wins First Matches Of Season

 
The Bulldogs JV girls lacrosse team continued their winning streak this week, coming out on top of their competition at both their matches. 
 
The varsity girls also had a successful week, winning their first matches of the season.
 
Monday, the teams played at St. Cloud State University, competing against St. Cloud Tech. 
 
The JV flattened the Tech Tigers 7-0, with Camryn Ramola leading the team as the high scorer.
 
The varsity team won their first game, taking out the Tigers with a close score of 11-9. Sophomore Megan Gamble scored three points, but six other players also had goals.
“All of the girls’ hard work finally paid off,” said Coach Anicca Lundeen. “It feels really good to have that first win in the books.”
 
Tuesday, the Bulldogs were on home turf, competing against Rocori on Eppard Field. JV won again, shutting them out 15-0. Sophomore Carly Leitold was the night’s leading scorer.
“This team has so much fun and really plays well at all spots,” said Lundeen. “I’ve said it before, but these girls are going to do great things!”
 
Varsity scored a big win, beating Rocori 19-6. Ten athletes contributed to the total with goals that had some great assists. Bria Amundson was the stand-out player in the match with four goals.
 
“The team is well-rounded with several able to score,” Lundeen commented.
 
The teams played again Friday, with JV taking on Big Lake and varsity battling Waconia. The matches will be reported on in next week’s edition of the Citizen-Tribune.
 
Next week the Bulldogs girls lacrosse teams will be home again on Tuesday as the take on Sauk Rapids. Thursday they’ll be traveling to a match in Chicago Lakes.
