Although the players have been holding captain’s practices for months, the Becker Bulldogs girls lacrosse team officially started practice April 1, working on strengthening their skills in preparation for a great season.
The team is being led this year by captains Hannah Bengtson, Bryanna Edling, Ruth Krisko and Sydney Stommes.
“This is an amazing group of girls, all of them have something to offer,” said Head Coach Anicca Lundeen. “The four captains, Hannah, Bryanna, Ruth and Sydney are terrific leaders. They all bring a different, necessary dynamic to the team. I couldn’t imagine taking on this new adventure without their experience and leadership abilities.”
Although she has taught at Becker for 20 years, this is Lundeen’s first year coaching. She’s being supported by assistant coaches Mike and Dwight Lundeen.
Practicing every day after school, the team of 44 athletes and four student managers also participates in conditioning workouts two or three mornings a week at 6 a.m.
“We’ve been working on getting used to new coaches and getting to know each other,” said Lundeen. “The first week we focused on skill work and basic fundamentals.”
The first competition for the Bulldogs girls lacrosse team will be Tuesday at Monticello High School. Lundeen is excited to watch the team’s growth throughout the season.
“When a dedicated group of hard-working individuals come together great things will happen,” she said.

The Becker Bulldog boys lacrosse team was contacted last week for an interview on their upcoming season. However, this reporter did not hear back from the coaches and thus no info was made available.
The Citizen-Tribune will continue to work with the coaching staff to ensure results of games are featured in the newspaper weekly.
We appreciate your understanding and patience.
