Although their meet at Spring Brook Golf Course was canceled due to rain, the Becker Bulldogs girls golf team was still able to get out and compete this week.
Wednesday, the team traveled to the Stones Throw Golf Course for the Milaca 6-6-6 Tournament, competing against Albany, Andover, Big Lake, Cambridge, St. Cloud Cathedral, St. Anthony, Mille Lacs/Aitkin, Milaca, Mora, Pierz, Pine City, Rogers and St. Francis.
At a 6-6-6 tournament, the first six holes are played as best ball, the next six are alternate shot and the final six are scramble format with a partner.
Team members Ashley Reed and Gretchen Graftaas were the Bulldogs’ top team with a combined score of 94, placing them in 13th place overall. The team of Kylee Rick and Emma Benson achieved a combined score of 102, and Avery Johnson and Alexa Voller a score of 196.
On the JV team, partners Evelyn Eich and Nora Polarski achieved a combined score of 111.
Becker placed ninth in the tournament with a team score of 196.
Thursday saw the Bulldogs at the Albany Golf Club to compete against Albany, Foley, Little Falls, Milaca, Mora and St. Cloud Cathedral in their first conference meet.
The team’s top golfer was Evelyn Eich with a 48. Ashley Reed was close behind with a 51, followed by Kylee Rick with a score of 54, Gretchen Graftaas with 56, Emma Benson with 61 and Alexa Voller with 69.
“Our team continues to show improvement,” said Head Coach Anna Babler. “We took fourth out of the seven teams.”
The Becker Bulldogs girls golf team will be heading to Wapicada Golf Club for a varsity meet Monday, Buffalo at the Wild Marsh Golf Club Tuesday, the Stones Throw Golf Course on Thursday, and the Rich-Spring Golf Club Friday for pre-section.
