Girls Flatten Lightning, Mustangs To Move To 4 2

The Becker softball team captured two wins this week — beating Eastview at the U of M last Saturday and throttling Mora Thursday.

Becker 7, Mora 1

Thursday, Becker traveled to Mora to take on the conference leading Mustangs and came away with a 7-1 victory.

The Bulldogs got on the board in the first when Corrie Weise scored on a Kaylyn Wiehle single.

The score stayed 1-0 until the top of the third when Weise singled, stole second and came in to score when the throw sailed into centerfield.

The Bulldogs were able to break the game open with four runs in the top of the fourth inning and push the lead to 6-0.  Avery Tamm and Krista Paulsen had doubles in the inning.

The Mustangs finally got on the board with a run in the bottom of the sixth, but the Bulldogs answered with a run in the top of the seventh to make the final 7-1.

Emma Eickhoff got the win on the mound.  She went all seven innings and allowed three hits while striking out nine.

Becker 13, Eastview 3

Last Saturday, the Lady Bulldogs traveled to the U of M to take on ninth-ranked Eastview Lightning.

It was a gorgeous day to play on the best field in the state and the Bulldogs took full advantage, winning the game 13-3 in five innings.

Corrie Weise doubled off the fence in left and came to score on a two out single to center off the bat of Emily Lamott.  A Lightning error then led to a barrage of runs for the Bulldogs.  Emma Eickhoff, Kurstyn Patnode and Cadence Koste hit three straight doubles to plate four more runs to make the score 5-0.

Eastview plated a run in the bottom of the second to make the score 5-1, but the Bulldogs came right back with four in the top of the third.  After some walks, Krista Paulson and Weise each singled to plate runs.

The Bulldogs weren't finished as four more runs came across in the top of the fourth.  Emma Eickhoff had a two-run double in the inning.

The final Bulldog run scored in the top of the fifth as Paulsen tripled and scored on an RBI single from Weise.

Weise got the win, going all five innings.  She allowed six hits and struck out four.

Avery Tamm, Weise, Eickhoff, Lamott, and Paulsen all had multiple hits on the day.
