The Bulldogs Girls Cross Country team ran at great race at the postponed Saints Invite at St. Francis last Friday, taking second place overall behind Forest Lake, who is ranked 7th in state polls.
The race saw a number of Bulldogs with season best and personal record times. Lexi Dehmer took first place out of a field of 68 runners with a time of 19:08, a personal record for her.
“She ran very smart, staying with several girls from Forest Lake throughout and taking the lead to out race them,” said Coach Patricia Kealy. “She’s having a nice season so far and is looking strong and running smart races.”
Dani Nuest was next for the Bulldogs, coming in strong in 8th place with a season best time of 19:44. Alexis Rose was 13th overall with a personal record time of 20:04.
Coming back from an injury that sidelined her last week, Natasha Berthiaume placed 16th overall with a time of 20:37. Nora Pilarski joined the Bulldogs top five for the first time and placed 28th with a time of 21:22.
Alexa Voller was 33rd with 21:30 and Ella McDonald placed 44th in 22:20 to round out the team.
The JV team also took second at the Forest Lake meet, running well with Abby Nelson impressively winning the race with a time of 21:21, her personal record.
Bella Duncombe also earned at medal with her fourth place win at 21:49. Megan Gregory (23:07), Hannah Dierkes (23:08), and Morgan Vee (23:08), came in together for places 12, 13 and 14. Shelby Dawson (23:42) and Raegan Leaders (26:08) rounded out the JV team.
The Jr. High team won their meet, led by Olivia Babler in second place, Natalie Trenz in third, Anna Kuklok fourth, Emilia Hansen 11th and MacKenna Smith 12th.
“I was impressed with the way all of our girls ran,” said Kealy. “They stepped up to challenge themselves and are coming along more and more each race.”
The Bulldogs Cross Country teams were at Rocori this Thursday, which will be covered in next week’s Citizen-Tribune. Their next race is scheduled for Sept. 26 at Buffalo.
