Girls CC team meets 3 times

The Becker girls cross country squad hosted a home meet October 5 and traveled to Alexandria October 9 and Princeton Oct. 12.

Becker Invitational

October 5, BHS hosted the Becker Invitational on the Pebble Creek Local 9 golf course.

This meet was a preview for the Section 5AA meet that Becker will host Oct. 28. Just one team from that upcoming event was missing Oct. 5, which  turned out to be an exciting meet. Twelve schools were represented in this meet.

The Monticello girls took first place with 36 points and the Becker girls were close behind for second with 41 points.  The remainder of the scores were: Spectrum 93, Northwest 94, St. Cloud Apollo, 132, Foley 135, Big Lake 180 and Milaca 215. Princeton, St. Cloud Tech, St. Francis, and Sauk Rapids-Rice had incomplete teams.

The medalist at the meet was Spectrum’s Hannah Boese.

The Bulldog girls once again ran a very good pack and had a nice 50 second spread from first through fifth girl. Becker had four season best times and six personal best times.

Placing seventh, Lexi Rose garnered a season best time of 21:01.1. lla McDonald finished in eighth place and Olivia Babler 9th as the girls were pushing one another the entire way with times of 21:12.2 for a season best for Ella and 21:12.3  PR time for Olivia

“The way the girls are dropping times we are looking for sub 21 minutes soon,” said Becker Head Coach Trish Kealy.

Brooklyn Karel placed 13th with a PR time of 21:46.2 and has made great strides this season.  Bella Duncombe ran a nice time of 21:51.2, dropping 50 seconds from last week and placing 14th.  Tasha Berthiaume came in 20th with a time of 22:19.2 and Katelyn Brower 29th in 23:00.6. There were 67 runners in this race. 

The JV girls placed second in their competition.

Natalie Trenz continues to show the results of her off season training by again earning a fine PR of 22:40.6 to capture third place.  Alea Briggs and Kayla Gruenes also ran well placing fifth (22:54.2) and sixth (23:08.1).  Raelee Lyon took eighth place with a well earned PR time of 23:21.1.

Rounding out the Bulldog scoring was Regan Hausmann placing 14th in 24:53.2. Also earning a season best time was Anna Kuklok and MacKenna Smith, who each earned PR times. There were 56 runners in the JV race.

Becker’s middle school runners had an incomplete team. There were 39 runners in the middle school race. Sophia Malisheski was Becker’s first girl, running hard and placing eighth. Naiya Hanson came in 12th and Chloe Peterson 27th.

 “We very much appreciate the folks at the golf course for all their help and cooperation with this event,” said Kealy.  “They have been great!  Also all of our workers and the activities office for their help and organization.”

Alexandria Meet

The Lady Bulldogs ran at the Alexandria Meet of Champions held at Arrowwood Resort in Alexandria, Sat.,  Oct. 9.    

Twenty eight schools attending with 24 full teams. In the girls race there were 11 ranked teams across the three classes in Minnesota that competed at this race

Becker’s girls ran very well and placed 12th out of the 24  teams. 

With five season-best and seven personal-best times in the books, the Bulldog coaching staff was well pleased with the performances.

Lexi Rose placed 36th out of 158 total runners. Her time was 20:09.2 for a big season best and close to her PR. Olivia Babler (59th) earned another PR and ran a time of 20:59.9 to go under 21:00 for the first time. Ella McDonald was right behind her in 61st with a season best time of 21:03.7. Brooklyn Karel and Bella Duncombe came in at 91st (21:55.9) and 93rd (22:02.6).

Rounding out the varsity were Tasha Berthiaume in 22:41.8 and Natalie Trenz  (22:46.2) in her first varsity race.

The JV girls had an impressive day placing fourth as a team and running with purpose.  Katelyn Brower was on a mission and earned a PR time of 22:10.5 for 22nd out of 219 runners. Alea Briggs,  Kayla Gruenes and Meghan Swanson really pushed one another and placed 24th, 27th and 29th. Briggs PR’d (22:19.4), Gruenes achieved a season best (22:22.2) and Swanson was right behind her with a PR (22:22.3).  

Becker’s final scoring runner was Regan Hausmann with a PR as well (23:26.0).  Also earning  PRs or SB were Myli Praught (PR), Raegan Leaders (SB), Anna Kuklok (SB), and McKenna Smith (PR).

The Middle school had 73 runners with Sophia Malisheski finishing in 14:46.3 (PR) and Chloe Peterson in 16:52.9 (PR).

Princeton Meet

Princeton hosted the Tiger Invitational Tues., Oct. 12.

The Bulldogs earned eight PRs and two season-best times at this meet. In the varsity race there were 81 runners. Alea Briggs was Becker’s top runner, placing 35th with a PR time of 21:57.2 and her first time under 22 minutes.

Raelee Lyon also notched a PR (22:06.5) and placed 41st.  Kayla Gruenes placed 43rd in a season best 22:09.9 followed closely by Natalie Trenz in a PR of 22;11.5 . Regan Hausmann was Becker’s other varsity runner and also earned a PR time (22:53.2).

The JV team also ran good times with Myli Praught at 23:44.2, Raegan Leaders 24;46.9 (both PRs). They were followed by Mina Nelson in 25;20.6.

Next was Paige Maunu with a PR, Anna Kuklok with a season best and McKenna Smith with another PR.   

“The girls all ran well and enjoyed the course on a well run meet,” said Kealy.
