Becker will be sending two boys and two girls golfers to state next week! Boys Golf For the first time since Becker has played their Section 6AA meet at Blackberry, the weather was not a factor.
Jackson Fluck and brothers Alex and Zach Stanz came to play and they put on quite a show. Fluck took second (151), Alex took third (153) and Zach took seventh (157). Fluck and Alex Stanz qualified for the state tournament next week in Jordan.
Zach Stanz missed out on the opportunity by three strokes.
Becker ended up losing to Cathedral by seven strokes. St. Cloud came out hot the first day, but cooled off on day two. Will Freeman of Cathedral single-handedly carried his team to state, winning the individual medalist honors with an impressive 145.
“We were down five strokes after the first day and had made those strokes up within the first three holes of the second day,” said Head Coach Dan Olson. “However, Austin (Seavert), Brandon (Abrahamson) and Gavin (Murphy) struggled with their games and we could not field a competitive fourth team score either day.”
Olson said the team side scoring requires four scores and his team could not get that at sections.
“It was definitely an emotional day for the team,” he said. “At one point we could not miss and then we were leaking oil and the wheels were falling off.”
