The bright spot was Jackson Fluck, who played a solid round and led the team, shooting a 76.

Zach Stanz (83), Alex (84) Stanz and Brandon Abrahamson (84) were the other scores that counted for the Bulldogs.

“Those three guys played well, but each had a couple of holes that caused theirs scores to be higher than normal,” said Head Coach Dan Olson.

“The last two GRC meets have shown us that we have a lot of work to do if we hope to get back to state,” he said.  “Cathedral is our main challenge to achieving this goal.  We have just under two weeks to prepare for sections.”

Olson’s team garnered some awards including all-conference awards to: Alex Stanz (second place), Jackson Fluck (fifth place) and Zach Stanz (seventh place).

Honorable mention went to: Austin Seavert (11th place) and Brandon Abrahamson (13th place).

Thursday, the Bulldogs headed to Brainerd for an afternoon round of 18 holes.

Despite a rough start and ending, Alex Stanz led the team with a 79.  Zach Stanz was second with an 81, Fluck shot an 85 and Austin Seavert had a 90.

The team score of 335 put them in the middle of the pack of 22 teams.

“The course played tough as the greens were running fast and the wind caused a lot of problems,” said Coach Olson.  “It was an up-and-down day as the guys played some great golf, but made some simple mental errors.  The team is struggling to put together complete 18 hole rounds and four quality scores.”

Brainerd won the event with a team score of 301. They were followed by Moorhead (303), Waconia (305), Chanhassen (311), Eastview (322), Buffalo (323), Forest lake (324), Melrose (327), Willmar (328), Prior Lake (330), Mahtomedi (331), Owatonna (335), Becker (335), Bemidji (337), St. Cloud Tech (337), Apollo/SRR (351), Grand Rapids (355), East Ridge (372), Pequot Lakes (375), Holy angels (380), Crosby-Ironton (383) and Zimmerman (391).
