SAMANTHA FLUCK, formerly of Becker High School and now a student/athlete at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, SD, earned an honorable mention this past week for her senior year of playing volleyball for the Tigers.

Fluck Earns All Gpac Honorable Mention After Standout Season

Sammy Fluck— a 2012 BHS graduate — was named as an honorable mention to the Great Plains Athletic Conference All Conference volleyball team for Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, SD.   
 
Fluck, who is set to graduate after her redshirt junior season, was the strongest force in the middle for DWU in 2015. She was third in the GPAC with 115 total blocks, while adding a solid .205 hitting percentage.
 
Fluck finished her career with 619 kills, 15th in DWU history, and 207 total blocks.
 
"Sammy had a wonderful senior season and it was great to see her receive honorable mention status in the GPAC," Dakota Wesleyan Volleyball Coach Lindsey Wilber said. "She earned it and we will miss her athletic ability as well as her leadership skills next year."
 
Fluck is a fourth-year member of the Tiger volleyball team. She returned to the court in 2014, playing 100 sets after being a medical redshirt in 2013.  She played as a middle hitter who is a threat both offensively and defensively at the net and adds height to the Tiger front line.
 
As a sophomore, Fluck finished the season with 193 kills — an average of 1.93 per set. She added 58 total blocks, including 15 solo. She also ecorded a season-high 17 kills against Haskell Sept. 6 of last year.
 
As a freshman, Fluck played in all 121 sets for the Tigers as a true freshman. She finished third on the team with 191 kills and also recorded 52 digs and 39 total blocks. Coming out of high school, Fluck was one of DWU’s top recruits in 2012.
 
Samantha is the daughter of Lonnie and Katey and is studying to be an athletic trainer.
