The Sherburne County Board last week passed a resolution restricting parking along a section of Co. Rd. 75 in Orrock Twp.
The decision is the result of recent modification of access to the Eagle Lake Boat launch by the DNR.
The restriction has been put in place because the road is not wide enough for parking on both sides of the street. Many vehicles that park there are pulling boat trailers.
Under the resolution, no parking is allowed on Co. Rd. 75 from 450 feet north of 236th Ave. to 450 feet south of 238th Ave. where the road curves around the lake.
Public Works Director Andrew Witter said the existing northbound right turn lane can be used for parking because that access was cut off due to private property.
“We’ll utilize that for some on-street parking,” he said.
Commissioner Raeanne Danielowski said the resolution is necessary until a long-term solution can be worked out.
“I think this is going to be a work in progress,” she said. “Hopefully, the DNR will figure out how to come to some agreement with that property owner to be able to support a reasonable access to the lake, which I don’t see at the moment.”
