Eagles Take Win, 5 4 In Sauk Centre

The Becker Big Lake Eagles beat Prairie Centre, 5-4, in an away game at Sauk Centre Tuesday.
 
Prairie Centre was first to score after 1.27 minutes of play. The Eagles Brandon Christianson tied the game at 11:09 with assists from Weston Schug and Nick Cencer. Prairie Centre fired back and the first period ended with the score at 2-1 in their favor.
 
Cencer scored the only goal of the second period for the Eagles at 8:27 to tie up the game.
 
Most of the action came in the third period. Prairie Centre came out and scored twice to put themselves ahead, 4-2. But the Eagles fought back hard.
 
At 13:44. Nick Stalpes scored with an assist from Taylor Giving. Giving scored a few minutes later with an assist from Christianson to tie the game. 
 
At 16:44, Weston Schug scored shorthanded with an assist from Ryan Murnane to give the Eagles the win.
 
Prairie Center had 31 shots on goal, versus the Eagles 29 shots. Goalie Justin Morrow had 27 saves.
 
The Eagles play River Lakes at home Friday at 7 p.m. in another non-conference game. They play Two Rivers Conference foes Moose Lake Area Saturday in another away game. Tuesday they travel to Mora to take on Mora/Hinckley-Finlayson.
 
Taylor Giving is the Eagles points leader with 19 points and assist leader with 13 points. Brandon Christianson has 13 points, Stalpes and Vickerman have 12 each and Weston Schug has nine. Vickerman has 10 assists, Stalpes and Murnane have six each and Alex Doran has four.
 
The Eagles next home game is Jan. 27 versus Pine City Rush City at 7:15 p.m.
