Eagles Lose In Overtime, 6 5

The Becker Big Lake varsity hockey Eagles lost to Windom Area in overtime Saturday, 6-5, after beating them 4-1 last time they faced off.

Zack Vieau scored the only goal of the first period with assists from Ethan Boutin and Ben Gilchrist one minute into the  game.
 
Nick Stalpes scored first in the second period with assists from Alec Green and Tristan Gust. Then Windom came back and scored twice to tie the game at 2-2.
 
The third period was a hard fought battle as Windom scored two more in the first eight minutes. Then Tristan Gust, with an assist from Nick Stalpes, scored for the Eagles on a power play after 15 minutes. Twenty two seconds later Elliot Darsow scored unaided to tie things up.
 
At 16:05, Jason Tonneslan scored for the Eagles with assists from Stalpes and Zach Muller, putting the Eagles in the lead, but Windom tied it up again 15 seconds later. The game ended when Windom scored at even strength after 5:48 minutes of overtime.
 
Goalie Ben Manzke was in the net. The Eagles had 38 shots on goal to Windom’s 27.
 
The Eagles next game is versus Legacy Christian Academy at Schwann’s Ice Arena in Blaine at 8 p.m. The Eagles are in fourth place in the Two Rivers Conference with a record of 6-7 so far this season.
