BRIAN KOLBINGER pitched Becker’s first game of a doubleheader against Cold Spring and went 3-for-3 at the plate in the Buzzards’ loss, 8-0.

Depleted Buzzards Shut Out Twice

The injury-plagued Becker Buzzards 35 and over baseball team dropped a pair of games to host Cold Spring Silver Springers Sunday afternoon.

Errors and missed opportunities was the demise of the Buzzards in both games as they lost 8-0 and 9-0.

In the first game, Brian Kolbinger was the only bright spot for the Buzzards as he went 3-for-3 at the plate while going the distance on the mound, taking the loss.
The second game wasn't much better for the beat up Buzzards as newcomer Craig Hern toed the rubber and struggled. Cold Spring pounded out 14 hits and nine runs. Co-Manager Deron Trovall broke up Cold Spring’s bid for a no hitter in the seventh inning as Trovall singled for the only Buzzard hit.

“Cold Spring is the best senior team in the state,” Trovall said after the game. “You have to play a perfect game against them, like we did when we beat them 2-1 earlier in the year.”

Trovall gave credit to the team’s pitchers — Kolbinger and Hern — as they toughed it out on the mound in the hot humid weather.

“We didn't have anyone else to relieve them,” said Trovall.
