Dazzlers Return To Floor After Holiday Break

The Becker Dazzlers Dance Team returned to competition last weekend to compete last Saturday at Rocori High School after a short winter break.

“Competitions are always a little challenging right after a break,” said Coach Julie Baloun. “It sometimes takes a few practices to get the stamina level back where it needs to be.
However, we did have a couple weekends off, so it was great to get back out on the competition floor.”

Coach Nadia Fischer-Danzeisen added, “It was a great competition for us to compete at since the Section 4AA tournament will be held at Rocori HS Jan. 31."

JV Kick
The JV Kick team got things started for Becker Saturday and had to make some adjustments to their routine over break to accommodate an unable-to-dance team member. The girls hardly missed a beat and were able to make those adjustments and perform well.

“We're still continuing to improve on scores this season,” said  Fischer-Danzeisen. “And, we're scoring higher now than we were at this time last season. I can definitely say that this routine has been a crowd favorite at competitions and it shows in our scores!”

Even with a teammate out, the team ranked third out of nine in practicality of content and secured fourth place rankings in height of kicks, visual effectiveness and routine effectiveness.

Varsity Kick
The Dazzlers Varsity Kick squad had a good day and impressed their coaches.

“I was very happy with the kick team's performance today,” said Baloun. “They performed with a lot of energy and enthusiasm! Their timing as a team was much better today and they hit their formations and transitions with more confidence than at some of their previous competitions.”

Baloun and Fischer-Danzeisen are still looking for a mistake free, clean routine, but the performances but heir athletes seem to be building and progressing.

The team’s scores improved by 29 points over last year at the same competition and the team finished one spot higher than last year. The strongest scores they received were in the difficulty of kicks and routine effectiveness categories.

JV Jazz
The JV Jazz troupe impressed many and have people talking about their extraordinary performance.

“I really love this routine,” said Fischer-Danzeisen. “It just makes me smile! People have come up and told me it has beautiful choreography so I'm not surprised, but very humbled.”

The team ranked second in degree of accuracy Saturday.

Fischer-Danzeisen says the JV jazz team is looking forward to adding some difficulty and making movements stronger as they prepare to face Cathedral on the 21st.

Varsity Jazz
The Dazzlers Varsity Jazz group made several changes to their choreography over break and Saturday was their first time competing with those changes.

“I was really hoping to increase our combination scores with all the changes we made over winter break,” said Fischer-Danzeisen. “The changes not only increased (in combination scores) but in almost every other category as well!”

Baloun and Fischer-Danzeisen are pleased with how well the athletes have handled all the revisions and they are excited that their team already got to test out the “sections floor”.
